August 1 at Just Jakes, Montclair NJ 7:00pm early show

August 14 Pete’s Saloon, Elmsford, NJ 9:30pm

Spring is here and young men’s thoughts turn to Rock & Roll

The saying goes “Spring is here and young men’s thought turn to love”. Well… for this group of (not-so-young) men, we are talking about the love of Rock and Roll.

We had too many freezing days this past winter, snow, snow and more snow. We had gigs cancelled, we had cabin fever, we have had enough winter.

Keepin it unFresh

The trees have buds and we are gearing up unSpring.

UnSpring, have you heard of it? For those you who have not, this is the season of the year where your unBrothers lock themselves in the rehearsal studio and prepare a bunch of new stuff…. just as fun as clever…. correction, more fun and cleverness than you have come to expect.

Many of you have been sending in suggestions for new zany hijinks… Thank you and keep em coming. We appreciate your input and will enact many of the suggestions submitted over the past few months.

Here are some cryptic clues about what we are working on; what does the Vocal Group Hall of Fame , “The Cordettes”, famous for their 1948 hit, Mr. Sandman,  have in common with one of the biggest heavy metal bands of the past 30 years? The unBrothers have discovered the common thread and will reveal it soon. This is not to be missed!

We are also working some material from some those progressive English chaps. You loved the ELP stuff so we will cook up some other stuff of that ilk. Yes, you heard right, more of that stuff.

Stay tuned and keep those cards and letters coming!

Your unBrothers

The Night Magic Happened – Love for Doug Recap

Doug Pintka

We really needed a few days to reflect on this event, look at all the pictures and re-live what really happened on the evening of March 14, 2015, before being able to comment on this night.

The Love for Doug fundraiser was not only a financial success but something happened there that was more than just fundraising, music or even a great party…

Once in blue moon you get a night of magic. Not the kind of magic that requires a deck of cards or a wooden box, sexy girl and a saw but rather a night online casino where the sum was so much greater than the parts that it transcends every expectation, goal or other measure.

What happens when you have a friend in need, 30 /- musicians, sound and lighting technicians, photographers, volunteers, 300 or so wonderful, generous souls, lots of great music, food and some drinks, all set in beautiful surroundings? This night magic happened.

Doug, you have an army behind you. If how you love, and how you are loved, is a measure of wealth, you are one of the richest men in the world.

We are proud to have taken part in this wonderful event, thrilled the we were all together. We raised some money and no matter what else happens, it is the kind of night that makes memories that last a lifetime.

Thank you all for allowing us to be part of that.

In the Early 80’s, our bass player, Jeff Gellis played in a band called Street Dancer. Among the members of Street Dancer were JT Taylor who went on to set the world on fire as lead singer in Cool and the Gang and Bernard Davis, groove monster drummer with Steve Winwood and Jonathan Butler to name a few. Back in the day, these guys would talk about a band they been in called Fillet of Soul. This band was the bomb, hugely popular and slamming!

Reuniting in 2010, Fillet of Soul has been making music together for 4 decades in various incarnations. Over the past year or so, we have gotten to know Doug Pintka, lead singer extraordinaire for FOS. Doug is a generous and gifted artist and it has been our pleasure to get to know him. Recently he was diagnosed with Cancer and we would ask you to support this benefit to help Doug with staggering medical cost amassed in battle against his disease.

Winter Blows!

Winter blows… or sucks…which ever you prefer. If you are not skiing at some gorgeous resort or not sitting on a beach somewhere where its warm, we have a suggestion on how to warm things up this February. Forget cabin fever and get out and have some fun… here is where!

Some Special Stuff Happening this November

Last night we played Just Jake’s. What a great night. We made a lot of new friends and had a great night. Thanks to everyone that came out.

So here is what is happening this November;
We have a gig at a new venue for the unBrothers, the Recovery Room located at 65 Old Hook Road in Westwood, NJ. We hope you can make out to the Recovery Room. The owners of the Recovery Room would appreciate it too…. we told them we have fans. OK, there’s more…. unBrothers is proud to announce a special guest star, Mr. Tommy Bowes, singer extraordinaire,  for Blood Sweat and Tears and Tower of Power will be joining us.

We could not be happier to return to Just Jake’s in Montclair, NJ. This is a big room with a big stage and big sound. A very fun venue, located in one NJs hippest and most beautiful cities, Montclair.

The biggest party night of the year Thanksgiving Eve we will be having a special Wednesday night show. Put the turkey in the oven and come to Ranchero Cantina. Kids returning from college, no work the next day and if that was not enough incentive, unBrothers is proud to announce a speical guest star, Mr. Tommy Bowes, singer extraordinaire,  for Blood Sweat and Tears and Tower of Power will be joining us.
